HandsOn Mid-Willamette Valley

Days of Caring DEADLINE EXTENDED

Attention Agencies!

The Deadline has been extended to propose projects for Days of Caring.  Don’t wait!  Submit your projects today!

Each year Days of Caring provides an opportunity for volunteer groups from companies, schools, churches, and other community groups across Marion, Polk, and Yamhill Counties to evoke change and create positive impact in the areas of education, income, and health. Volunteer groups choose from a variety of projects hosted by non-profit and government agencies that fit their interests and availability.  All volunteers receive a t-shirt and valuable information about the agency they are serving and the work being done across the Mid-Willamette Valley to improve the common good.

Days of Caring is September 6th-11th*If you have a project that doesn’t fit within those dates, let us know.  We often have groups looking for projects in August and late September.*

Newberg RoundAbout—Projects Needed!

Have a project you need completed for your organization that can travel? Want to connect with people who want to volunteer in your community? HandsOn is hosting what we call a ‘RoundAbout’ on July 29, 1-4pm at the Chehalem Adult Enrichment Center 101 Foothills Dr. in Newberg. At a RoundAbout we have several organizations bring projects they need done for their organizations. We have had organizations bring things to be cut out for programs, stuffing envelope projects, creating art work, anything that can be taken from your office and done in another location. You would need to supply all of the necessary components of the project and directions for doing the project. We would also hope that you could send at least one person to staff the project at your table.

Project Calendar Expanding!

HandsOn is excited to launch another way for you to find volunteers for your episodic projects:  Our Project Calendar! The Calendar is a key piece of our services, listing one-time, done in a day projects that give volunteers one place to find projects in their communities. Even if you have an ongoing, long-term project, we can work with you to identify one specific project day on the calendar. To get your projects on the Calendar post them to 1-800-Volunteer or call HandsOn to find out more information.

Yamhill County Roundabout: Need Projects!

Have a project you need completed for your organization that can travel? Want to connect with people who want to volunteer in your community? HandsOn MWV is hosting what we call a ‘Roundabout’ on June 16, 4-7pm in the First Federal Board Room at 111 N.E. Third St., McMinnville. At a Roundabout we have several organizations bring projects they need done for their organizations. We have had organizations bring things to be cut out for programs, stuffing envelope projects, creating art work, anything that can be taken from your office and done in another location.

Service To Go

Service To Go is a new opportunity for agencies to get big projects done.

HandsOn Mid-Willamette Valley is excited to launch a new page of our website: Service To Go! These are fun and innovative community service projects that volunteers can do wherever and whenever volunteers want. Where do agencies come in? We need your projects!

The project ideas that come from you become options for our volunteers to choose on the website. We’re looking for projects that your agency can never have enough of. The projects should be something that volunteers can do in their own time and at their own home. Fun, crafty projects that are family friendly are the projects that work best. Our volunteers want to do these projects for you! The best part is, we do not need you to provide any of the materials – We just need the directions!  Volunteers will take care of the rest.
If you have a project idea or want more information, please contact Nicole Walker Sundby at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Let Us Help You with Your To-Do List

CALLING ALL PORTABLE SERVICE PROJECTS!

We have 2 large service events coming up.  We have helping hands ready and willing to serve. Now all we need are your service projects.

Wednesday, March 31st

Cesar Chavez Day
We are hosting a “round about of projects” at the United Way.  We are looking for family friendly projects that can be taking away from your office.  We will return them once the event has ended.

Thursday, April 8th

United Way Campaign Celebration “No Dining, Just Doing”
Instead of a traditional event, the United Way has chosen to host an evening of service with a variety of projects for the guests to participate in.  This is a great place to showcase your organization.  Donors, board members and the general public have been invited to attend.  This event will be at the Salem Conference Center.

Please contact (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) if you have a project for us.  No task is too small or too large.

Cesar Chavez Day

“¡Viva la casua!”
Cesar Chavez Day is on Wednesday March 31, 2010!  HandsOn will be hosting a “Carousel of Projects” that evening at our office.  I highly encourage you to think of volunteer projects that would in some way support Cesar Chavez values and mission of farm worker rights, Labor Unions, Nonviolence, & Food Security.

WANTED:  Service Projects

Do you have any service projects? Envelopes to be stuffed? Yarn to be cut? Applications to be collated? Let us take care of that for you!

Tired of stuffing envelopes? Let us take those off your hands!

In February, Nicole Walker Sundby, HandsOn Community Mobilizer, will be facilitating a project with Western Oregon Students around the concept of Speed Service.
