Make a Difference – Oregon! Plan a Project Today!

October 22-24, 2010

Oregonians volunteering across the state to make a difference in our local communities!
Make A Difference – Oregon is based on the National Make A Difference Day - the most encompassing national day of service. Communities across our nation celebrate this day by helping their neighbors and neighborhoods with meaningful service projects. Our goal is to engage over 400 people across the state over the weekend of Oct.22-24. In our community alone we would like to engage 100 people. Please login to your 1800VOLUNTEER account and post an opportunity to join in this event. HandsOn staff will work hard to spotlight your volunteer need and help recruit volunteers for your opportunity. Please contact (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) if you have any questions.

A Day ON, Not a Day Off!

Initiated by Congress in 1994, Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service that builds on his legacy by transforming the federal holiday honoring Dr. King into a national day of community service grounded in his teachings of nonviolence and social justice. The aim is to make the holiday a day ON, where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to improve lives, bridge social barriers, and move our nation closer to the “Beloved Community” that Dr. King envisioned.
